Sam Tompkins, 21 year old singer-songwriter from Eastbourne has been taking the internet by storm recently, videos of Sam singing have been going viral racking up hundreds of thousands of views and he is now taking the spotlight he deserves. The upcoming artist is only at the beginning of his career but holds with him a bright future.
Sam has been doing music from a young age and soon caught a passion for singing. Sam taught himself to sing through copying what his sister would be playing round the house and from there would start to imitate the vocals he heard. His sister would play a lot of R&B and Hip-Hop, Sam grew up listening to artists such as Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, The Dream and Bobby Valentino which all inspired him from a young age musically.
As Sam got older, his love for R&B and Hip-Hop made him start to explore songwriting and the use of lyricism further. By the time he turned 16, he knew he wanted to be a singer-songwriter.
Since then Sam has been building his craft and has since released an EP in 2017 ‘Coloured Emotions’ containing 5 tracks including a feature from Isaiah Dreads. He has also supported artists such as Jason Derulo, Krept and Konan, Section Boyz and Lawson etc. Not only this, Sam has also appeared in the hit movie ‘Brotherhood’.
Sam and his friend Ren have recently been busking the streets of Brighton gathering large audiences, the pair have been going viral performing both originals and covers, one if which called ‘Same Old Situation’. Sam in particular known for his use of falsetto, accented vocals and use of lyricism, his fan base has been growing considerably in the recent months.
Sam released his debut single this year ‘Wife You’ which can be found available on all streaming platforms alongside an acoustic version as well.
