Met Gala 2018

Met Gala 2018’s annual charity brought Fashion and Catholicism into the house of Hollywood on the 7th of May, but the most significant event of the night was Rihanna’s Gala After Party hosted at the Up & Down NYC. Renowned for it’s celebrity popularity, the Met Gala icons met again at 14th Street for round 2 of the title for fashion titan.

Not as grandiose as the charity event but the outfits embraced the theme of the day curated by the gala institute, as celebs from Chadwick Boseman, Letitia Wright, Michael B. Jordan and Daniel Kaluuya, Sean Combs and Cassie,  Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh, Donald Glover, Jaden Smith , Wiz Khalifa, Idris Elba and fiancée Sabrina Dhowre and newlyweds Emily Ratajkowski and Sebastian Bear-McClard.all opted to stream the theme into dawn.

Club owners Butter Group is one of the premier nightlife experiences in NYC, already having successful clubs like 1OAK in 2 of America’s states, transforming the previous posh restaurant Darby, into Up & Down on 14th street. Bringing back the culture and beauty of nightlife has two polar opposite rooms described as like a theme park adventure – from a Jay-Z track surrounded by the chaos, bottles and sparklers, to the subterranean basement with low ceilings and people making their own personal dance space listening to “Boy with a Thorn in His Side” giving you the feeling that you just wandered into somebody’s house party.

The celebrated Gala at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the biggest events on the fashion calendar, encouraging donations from New York’s high society and Hollywood’s famous faces to come together and raise money for the Met’s Costume Institute and honor the grand opening of its latest exhibition the best way they can. The new exhibition theme for this year is Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
